Pemberton Raceworks has set out once again to visualize, and bring to creation, the optimal carpet oval pan car kit for all classes. We are thrilled to bring to you the first look at our newest competition pan car offering.

Please say hello to PRW’s completely reinvented 1/10th scale carpet oval pan car racing kit: The 4.8.

Our goal with the 4.8 was to bring along many of the features that made the 4.7 and 4.7CE so popular, all while making the car even lighter/lower/more efficient, and building in more durability/adjustability than any car on the market has offered before. We are proud to highlight the following features on the 4.8, from front to back:

- Redesigned front bumper to be lower-profile and mount better to many of the “stock” truck and car body options (bolt pattern unchanged, will fit older chassis). Lighter than our prior bumper and accepts PRW’s all-new .5mm carbon fiber “Plow Blade” options (car/truck and open/winged) to easily mount your body of choice further forward and seal off airflow from underneath.

- Brand new front chassis brace system, especially useful in reducing chassis flex and preventing the dreaded “dump-over” effect on the right-front corner. Highly recommended for spec foam tire classes on high grip; we have opted to not run it in most rubber tire or modified foam applications to allow for more front end flex. Perfect option to tune your chassis flex “to taste”, if you will. Minimalistic and lightweight design in mind to keep nose weight to a minimum.

- We have moved away from the floating servo mount and opted to completely redesign our servo mount system with angled aluminum blocks, (3) separate carbon brackets to accept every common servo size (MKS/671/9650), conveniently marked with 1/2/3 notches, and four screws underneath to anchor the unit to the chassis. We wanted to create a lightweight setup that features maximum adjustability and absolutely eliminates tweaking/twisting of the assembly in hard impacts. Thus, we have dubbed this creation the PRW Anti-Twist Servo Mount System. Three sets of holes on the chassis plate allow you to position your steering turnbuckles fore/aft, yielding the exact angle you are looking for depending on the class. PRW “Pro Grade” grade 5 titanium turnbuckles come standard in the kit as well to keep the car lean and mean. Spend less time on the setup station and more on the track with PRW’s new ultra-tough servo mount system for the 4.8.

- We have once again taken left-side weight options to the next level and now offer every possible configuration for weight placement, all in one kit. NO different chassis, NO pocketing of the carbon for maximum strength/consistency, NO limitations. The 4.8 kit features completely revised weight positions and comes standard with 5-and-a-half total ounces of weight included right in the box: brand new 0.5 oz brass plates for the left-front corner and underneath the ESC, (5) 0.5 oz brass pieces for the left-side rail, and a 2 oz brass plate under the battery. The brass weight plates come in at just .050” in thickness and the chassis is not pocketed, keeping the weight as low as possible while also not compromising the strength of the carbon fiber. Make legal weight right out of the box!

- The left-side weight rail is a new part on the 4.8, but it still accepts five pieces of weight, including our highly popular optional 1 oz tungsten pieces in classes you are looking to load weight as far left as possible. The distribution of those weight pieces has been shifted: one position was removed from the left-front corner, and has now been shifted to the left-rear corner of the car, left of the ESC. The more we have tested, the more we are looking to stack weight around/under the ESC in almost every class. From previous versions compared to the 4.8, we have evolved from no weight to now as much as 1.5 total ounces in the left-rear corner of the car alone, no modifications needed. Run whatever configuration you want: some plates, no plates, weights only on the weight rail, or take the weight rail off entirely and run all brass plates. You will not find a carpet oval kit on the market that offers more weight placement/tuning options! 

- The battery locator has been revised with the same minimalistic/lightweight theme in mind. No longer is the locator on a slider, it now directly bolts onto the chassis, but it contains three separate pairs of holes to tune the battery position to your heart’s content. As a bonus, the locator can be flipped over to offset the hole positions .100”. One locator, one set of holes on the chassis, SIX different configurations to dial in those weight percentages!

- Cross braces (both standard and reduced offset T-Plate positions) have been revised to have all 4 standoffs mount to the main chassis plate for more consistent flex characteristics. No changes in body post location front/back, drag and drop your lid with ease!

- All-new carbon chassis plate to accommodate 4.8 geometry changes, including but not limited to: wider front-end cutouts for optimal flex in rubber/modified classes (using the front brace as a tuning option); new servo mount/weight systems; even more center shock mounting options than before if you wish to run a longer configuration than stock; right-side pulled in to reduce dragging in corners, and more.

It is always a challenge to build upon an already established competitor and champion, in this case, with the 4.7 platform. With the work of our incredibly talented team, tireless designing/redesigning and plenty of test laps, we felt this offering warranted moving to the next step in the “4” saga.
